Two straight shutouts, 75 points scored and none allowed. The Harvest Prep result reinforces the decision to keep Ironton No. 1. Gallia Academy arrives with three straight wins, so the Tigers have another chance to show why they lead this poll.
The Panthers scored 47 in each of the last two games and remain unbeaten. Winning at West Muskingum keeps New Lex firmly at No. 2. Morgan is next as the Panthers try to carry an unblemished record into the final week.
The Buckeyes outscored their last two opponents 97-7 and move into the Top 3. Vinton County has won two straight, making this road game a useful test rather than another result to take for granted.
The Vikings backed up the Eastern win with another shutout and are 8-0. Their last two games produced an 84-7 scoring edge. The move to No. 4 reflects sustained results, with a trip to Notre Dame next.
The 28-14 road win at Chillicothe is the key separator between these two one-loss teams. Trace followed it by scoring 55 against Hillsboro. The Panthers deserve the head-to-head edge and enter the Top 5 with McClain next.
The Cavaliers answered their first loss with a 51-point performance against Washington. Miami Trace now owns the head-to-head advantage, but Chillicothe remains a strong 7-1 team. A trip to Hillsboro offers a chance to keep the response going.
Two more wins by 20 points apiece keep the Generals moving upward. Now comes a road game at Tri-Valley that can tell us considerably more about their ceiling. This is one of the most interesting tests near the top of the poll.
The Barnesville loss matters, but so does the 42-0 response against Marietta. Fort Frye stays in the Top 10 rather than being defined by one difficult Friday. Warren just won a one-point game and will be looking to build on it.
The Bulldogs outscored Meigs and Wellston 95-15 and move to No. 9. Seven wins and two more convincing performances make the case for keeping Athens near the top. River Valley is next at home.
Two wins, 70 points scored and only 13 allowed move the Senators into the Top 10. The Valley result is a useful head-to-head win, not just another mark in the standings. West travels to Oak Hill looking for win No. 8.
The Pointers handled Chesapeake, then scored 48 to get past Coal Grove. Their 7-1 record earns another step upward. Portsmouth has scored 76 points over its last two games, so South Point's defense has something to prepare for.
The Pioneers scored 109 points over their last two games, including a 48-0 shutout at Westfall. The full 7-1 body of work moves them to No. 12 despite the earlier Huntington loss. Southeastern is the next test at home.
The overtime loss at Piketon costs ground, but the 42-13 response against Huntington keeps Unioto in the upper tier. Those two results show why one Friday cannot tell the whole story. The Shermans host Paint Valley next.
Back-to-back shutouts by a combined 125-0 leave little doubt that Waterford has responded. The one-place dip is relative movement around the Wildcats, not a poor two-week stretch. A trip to Trimble gives them another chance to keep the defense rolling.
The Ironmen scored 101 points in wins over Hillsboro and McClain. They remain a dangerous 5-3 team rather than one to judge by record alone. Washington visits next, and Jackson has an opportunity to finish the regular season strongly.
Two road wins by a combined 61-7 move the Falcons to No. 16. The Circleville victory is especially useful when separating this group. Fairfield Union returns home to face Alexander with momentum on both sides of the ball.
The Pirates followed a shutout of Oak Hill with a seven-point road win at Waverly. That fresh head-to-head result keeps Wheelersburg ahead of the Tigers. Minford visits next as the Pirates try to turn two straight wins into three.
The Huntsmen escaped Adena by one before running into a strong Unioto response. Their earlier win over Zane Trace still counts, but the full eight-game picture brings Huntington to No. 18. A trip to Westfall offers a chance to reset.
The Tigers beat Minford comfortably and then stayed within a touchdown of Wheelersburg. That keeps Waverly in the same spot, with the Pirates retaining the direct advantage. A win at Northwest would move the Tigers above .500.
West handed Valley a setback, but the Indians answered with 58 points at Oak Hill. They hold at No. 20 rather than getting an automatic leap for the rebound. Grandview Heights provides the next opportunity to add a useful win.
Beating Unioto in overtime is the result behind the eight-place jump. Following it with a 41-13 road win shows the Redstreaks did not stop there. Adena is coming off a shutout, making this a good test of Piketon's momentum.
Athens controlled the Week 7 meeting, but Meigs responded by edging Minford 27-21. The Marauders are still above .500 and have a chance to build on that win against Wellston. No need to erase five victories over one difficult game.
The Eagles scored 103 points across two wins and enter Week 9 at 6-2. Allowing 30 to Trimble leaves room to tighten up, but the overall direction is positive. Belpre is next on the road.
The Symmes Valley loss was decisive, but Eastern bounced back with 49 points against Notre Dame. Scott Tomlison's Eagles now visit a 6-2 South Gallia team. That head-to-head game should help sort out this part of the poll.
The Tigers responded to Fairfield Union by winning at Liberty Union. That keeps them above .500, though the Falcons retain the direct advantage. Hosting Bloom-Carroll is a meaningful chance to improve the strength of Circleville's resume.
The 49-13 win over Fairland is too decisive to overlook and drives the largest rise in this edition. The earlier Amanda-Clearcreek loss still tempers the overall assessment. A trip to Hamilton Township will quickly test this new position.
Scoring 45 at Portsmouth was encouraging; allowing 49 at Logan Elm was the opposite. The direct loss puts the Dragons behind the Braves in this edition. Coal Grove gives Fairland an immediate opportunity to respond at home.
Two road wins by a combined 70-22 put the Vikings at 5-3. Now unbeaten Nelsonville-York comes to town. That is a much bigger test and the kind of result that could move Vinton County considerably higher.
The Rebels outscored Sciotoville and Green 81-6 and are now 6-2. Beaver Eastern is a tougher measuring stick than the last two opponents. Winning this one would give South Gallia a direct argument for a place above the Eagles.
The Blue Lions handled McClain before losing to Chillicothe. The direct win keeps Washington ahead of McClain, while the Chillicothe result shows the gap to the top of this group. Jackson is next, making it another challenging road assignment.
After West Muskingum's 56-point performance, Crooksville needed a response and found it in a 45-37 road win. The Ceramics are back to .500. Meadowbrook gives them a chance to finish the week with a winning record.
The 4-0 start has become 4-4 after a much tougher stretch of the schedule. Washington and Jackson both won convincingly over the last two weeks. A trip to No. 5 Miami Trace does not make the next assignment any easier.
A one-point loss at Huntington was followed by a 28-0 road win at Southeastern. That is enough to move the Warriors six places. Hosting Piketon gives Adena a chance to turn this improvement into another significant head-to-head result.
The Tornadoes went from a shutout loss at Waterford to a 42-0 shutout of Belpre. That response puts Southern ahead of the Golden Eagles and back at .500. Federal Hocking visits next.
The Spartans edged River Valley before running into unbeaten Nelsonville-York. At 4-4, Alexander still has a chance to finish with a winning record. A trip to No. 16 Fairfield Union makes this week's opportunity a demanding one.
The Warriors followed a difficult trip to John Marshall with a 29-28 win at Edison. Winning a close one gives them something to build on. Fort Frye visits next, with a much bigger ranking opportunity available.
Two straight losses have brought Belpre back to .500 and down ten places. Southern's 42-0 win is a clear head-to-head separator. Hosting Eastern Meigs gives the Golden Eagles a chance to stop the slide against a higher-ranked opponent.
The Panthers allowed 55 to Westfall and then were shut out by Adena. That two-game stretch explains the drop more than the 4-4 record by itself. A trip to 7-1 Zane Trace demands a much stronger showing.
The Trojans followed a high-scoring loss to Fairland with a 43-35 win over Rock Hill. Their offense has kept games interesting, but South Point presents a higher-ranked test. Another win would keep a .500 finish within reach.
The Blue Devils won both of their last two games by a combined six points. Those close results still count, and Gallia has now won three straight. Traveling to No. 1 Ironton is a very different challenge.
A one-point loss to Gallia and an eight-point loss to Portsmouth show how close Rock Hill has been to changing its record. The Redmen still need the actual wins. Hosting Chesapeake offers another nearby-ranked opponent and a chance to finish a close game.
The Falcons improved from a 24-point loss to Waverly to a six-point loss at Meigs, but both were setbacks. Wheelersburg is another difficult road trip. A stronger defensive performance is essential to changing the result.
The Hornets were shut out at KIPP but put up 36 at South Point. Finding that offense again while allowing fewer points is the next step. Fairland is also looking to rebound, making this an important game for both teams.
The Panthers were within five of Gallia after the South Point loss. Their one-place rise is a relative adjustment, not a reward for losing twice. Rock Hill is close to them in the poll, giving us a useful head-to-head matchup.
Notre Dame beat Green convincingly before losing at Beaver Eastern. The Titans remain .500, but unbeaten Symmes Valley brings a much bigger challenge. An improved defensive showing is necessary against the No. 4 team.
The win over Logan Elm matters even after the shutout loss to Fairfield Union. It is the reason the Aces move up rather than being judged only by their latest result. Liberty Union is next, with a chance to add a third win.
The Chieftains scored 50 points over the last two weeks but allowed 105. That leaves Logan searching for a more balanced performance at Groveport-Madison. The earlier Warren win still counts, but recent results explain the slide.
The one-point loss at Alexander was followed by a 32-7 loss to Vinton County. Turning competitive stretches into complete games remains the challenge. A trip to No. 9 Athens will require a substantial step forward.
Nelsonville-York and Athens combined for 108 points against the Golden Rockets. That was a difficult two-week assignment, but Wellston still needs a response. Another road trip, this time to Meigs, is next.
The Tomcats beat Belpre and then scored 30 in a loss at Eastern Meigs. The win gives them a small rise, but Waterford's recent shutouts make this week's matchup challenging. Trimble will need to pair its scoring with more stops.
The Greyhounds are 3-4 after the Belmont and Linsly losses. A trip to New Miami offers a chance to get back to .500. The Belmont entry is shown as a recorded result, not treated as an ordinary one-point game.
Scoring 55 at Southeastern produced a second win, but Zane Trace answered with a 48-0 shutout. Westfall holds its position after that split. Hosting Huntington gives the Mustangs another opportunity to show the offense can return.
Jackson and Miami Trace combined for 124 points against the Indians. The search for a first win continues with Chillicothe visiting. Defensive improvement is the clearest need after another difficult stretch of FAC play.
Williamstown and Fort Frye each scored 42 against the Tigers. Marietta remains winless but returns home for Point Pleasant. Getting the offense moving again is an important first step after the Week 8 shutout.
The 20-10 win over Fairfield Christian delivered Miller's first victory and a four-place climb. Bishop Rosecrans then handed the Falcons a shutout loss. Summit Country Day visits next, with an opportunity to build on the breakthrough rather than the setback.
South Gallia and Symmes Valley both won decisively over the last two weeks. Now the Tartans visit Green in a matchup between two 1-7 teams. It is a direct opportunity for one side to change the tone of its finish.
The Bobcats have faced two difficult weeks against Notre Dame and South Gallia. Sciotoville arrives with the same 1-7 record. That makes this a useful head-to-head game and an opportunity to add a second win.
Vinton County and Portsmouth West extended Northwest's winless start. Waverly comes next with wins already on its resume against Unioto and Valley. The Mohawks need a stronger all-around showing to make this competitive.
The Bearcats scored in both recent games but allowed 102 points combined. A trip to Unioto brings another upper-tier opponent. Limiting the big scoring totals is essential as Paint Valley continues looking for its first win.
Wheelersburg and Valley won by large margins over the last two weeks. No. 10 Portsmouth West is the next opponent on the schedule. The Oaks will need progress on both sides to change the direction of their finish.
Eastern Meigs and Waterford handed the Lancers consecutive shutouts. Southern is next on the road. Finding sustained offense and keeping the game closer are the immediate goals for a team still seeking its first victory.
